Summer's First Week

It was kinda nice having plans for the day after school let out; we drove near San Antonio to Scott's grandmother's 90th birthday.  Despite having a short-ish ride, our kids are just not cut out for a five hour drive. 45 minutes into it, Alex was moaning about his carsick-induced headache and queasiness, then the typical kid and car whining and issues ensued. Don't know how some of you do drives to Florida or cross-country!  Lex has motion-sickness bands now, which seem to do the trick.

Four generations, from 4 to 90 years young
Anyway, we had a nice visit with  Grandma Carolyn and family; she and her sister, Marilyn, put together a great surprise party for Great Grandma Mildred. Our three also loved spending time with cousin Ben.  We had to be back for a meeting at church Sunday (about the boy's first sleep away camp next week!!!), then Scott was on  plane Monday morning  for a trip to LA all week, how conviiieeent!

Kiddos and I spent the first several days cleaning out toys and books for donation and making an "I'm Bored" ideas jar (which shockingly has worked, now on day 4!), settling into our routine.  D's trying out a ballet/tap/jazz class and enjoyed the first one.

Alex is still playing baseball, due to rain reschedules and playoffs; he was crushed when he wasn't one of the two chosen from his team to play in the All-Star game, hopefully my two hour pep talk did some good.  For their final game, the Braves were shorthanded, so Linc got to suit up and play, against the #1 ranked team.  He made a lot of good stops at shortstop, hit a single and scored! The coach gave him the game ball and hes ready to sign up full time.

As best as we can calculate, Domino turned one this week. He played in the sprinkler and was treated to a McD's cheeseburger, where he didn't try to crawl into the drive thru window, as Bay did.  Just 12 more months until he mellows out, right?!?!
