Saturday, my 36th birthday was spent running a 5k interspersed with 16 muddy, wet laughter inducing obstacles. It's called the Jailbreak and my friend, Jenn braved it with me. It was wild and terrific. Covered head to toe in mud, we finished in a little over an hour. Some of the obstacles included several lake crossings in chest-high water, scaling a rope net, climbing up an A-frame with a rope, hurdles, attempting to get out of a thigh high mud pit, a water slide down a 30 foot hill, and lots and lots of mud.

| Post-race, waiting to be 'showered off' |
The kids had soccer games, so were unable to cheer us on (a good thing it turns out, as they would've had to wait forever just to see us the last 100 yards) but had a clean house, gifts and cake and a pinata were waiting when I returned home.
That night we attended a friends 40th surprise party, then had a nice dinner. Unfortunately I woke up at 1:30 am and was violently ill. Maybe some of that lake water and mud wasn't so agreeable with my system? Thankfully, all better now.
I'm happy to report that Grandpa Rick is on the mend. He had two procedures to put stints in his neck, which had 99% (!!) blockage. Several days later he underwent heart surgery where five arteries were bypassed. The doctors called him a miracle to still be alive and he is now on the road to recovery.
