No Catchy Title Here..

Mom and dad visited and helped trim the bushes!
I can't believe I'm still buying Halloween costumes for 13 year olds.
I can't believe my teenager dressed up as a T-Rex.

And a duck head.

A neighbor's traditional pre-trick or treating dinner, plus a few extras, including girls!

1950's car hop

A fun girls' getaway night at Sue's lake house with Renee and Laura. We visited a beautiful local winery, but no drinks for me due to my recently developed wine allergy!

THANKSGIVING TRIP TO JEN'S!!!
Our first visit to her Sacramento home was fantastic!

Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ted at our family gathering, it's been over 10 years since our last visit!

Blurry Uncle Toby and Mary Lou! No pictures of Kate and our newest funny little cousin Lily.

One of the many street games, in front of the 'brown house'.

Fun in an Old Sac store, after taking the light rail there.

Selfie! How pasty are we?

 Fish Hatchery- Fascinating!

🐟 🐟 The gate was closed for the spawning salmon to try to climb the ladder. 😰 😵

Turkeys!

Lake House Year End Summary
  • May thru December nights rented: 104
  • May thru September nights rented per month: ~ 15
  • October thru December nights rented per month: ~ 10
  • Days we've visited since May rentals began: ~ 25. Many were day trips Scott or I took to check on the place and do small projects.
Notables:
  • Who Stays:
    • Other than people who stumbled upon our listing on VRBO, there's been: lake homeowners needing overflow guest space, former lake homeowners coming back to visit, house hunters (one whom asked if we'd sell ours, but ended up purchasing in our neighborhood), an Australian couple crossing off their bucket list since he's been diagnosed with cancer and is hoping for an 'On Golden Pond' experience, and return visitors from the previous owners.
    • Losses:
      • Kids rough housing broke a flat screen TV (guest paid to replace), hole in the drywall, roof leak in living room, crack in granite counter top (house settling?), guest threw party for Grandma's birthday and dozens of family visited for the day and had tents pitched outside.. neighbors were not happy! Also a misfiring smoke alarm, and boat anchor lost by guest who borrowed our supplies.
    • A majority of guests leave an item behind, which I return in the mail such as a boot, tablet, Ray Ban sunglasses, clothes, brownie pan.
    • Some visitors read and follow directions well and I have little interaction with them, while others need considerable communication and hand-holding despite written details.
    • We are extremely pleased with this experience! The property is holding up nicely, and helping us immensely is our reliable housekeeper and the VRBO property management platform.
    Next up: Christmas, Everett-style!
