Double Digits Decade Old!

Our baby boys turned ten years old! Hard to believe. Three more years 'till teenagedome, six more until driving and eight before college! Wow.

They got lots of spending money and we've redecorated their rooms a bit. Junk food was the menu for the day with cinnamon rolls for breakfast, In-n- Out at school delivered for lunch, pizza dinner and ice cream cake. Plans are in the works for a birthday party when crazy May slows down a bit.

How did they go from this...

We're so proud of the young men they're becoming and are blessed to be their parents.

Other tidbits:

Danica jumped at the opportunity to dance for a second year with the high school drill team, the Bailadoras. She and her friend, Amelia attended one half day practice, then performed "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" during the spring show. She loved it!

Scott had a scary incident flying home from Tennessee. Shortly after takeoff the plane lost air pressure, so it took a nose dive to fly slower and at a lower altitude, which caused fuel to burn quicker. They made it to Arkansas where he caught another flight home.

A school project required Alex and Lincoln to participate in a community service project. Linc and his best buddy Andrew volunteered at the Cooper Color Challenge, a 5K obstacle course where participants have colored chalk thrown on them. The boys had a blast and were blue and pink head to toe about 10 minutes in!

Alex picked up trash at a park for his project.

I just knew we would miss the hatching of the ducklings in our bushes. While in Disneyland I got a text from my neighbor that mama and babies were making their way to the lake but some of the babies fell down the giant storm drain in front of our house. Neighborhood ladies crawled down there to rescue them and cover up the opening. One baby got separated from mom and kept running back to the nest. Later there was a happy family reunion with all 10 ducklings. Sadly, they haven't returned, we'll just have to wait to see if mom picks our yard again next year for nesting.

After 14 years we finally purchased a new, bigger family room couch. This prompted a whole house rearranging/purging session. Setting our items by the curb proved that one man's trash is anothers treasure. We unloaded a TV, storage cabinets, toy kitchen, 2 bookshelves, swivel desk chair and coffee table. Several trips to Goodwill averted!

Quotes:

I told Lincoln about a little boy we know who broke his elbow for the third time, different arms. He said, "Different arms?! How's that possible, he only has two arms!"

Dan: "I want to See the movie about the real Barbie."
Me: "Honey, Barbie isn't a real person, it's just a made up plastic doll."
Dan:" Really?! I thought she was real like George Washington or Benjamin Franklin."
