Three Tri's a Charm

What does a rainy fall weekend in North Texas mean?  Triathlon time!  Lincoln had a great race Saturday morning. In his best time yet, he finished in 21 minutes flat (isn't that odd?) and 11th place out of 204 in the six to ten year old division.  He's already asking to do another, longer one.

Orange shorts, orange bike. So fast, he's just a blur. Or I didn't have my camera setting right.

Middle of frame, shirtless (why waste precious seconds putting on clothes?)

Afterwards we warmed up in the hot tub and found this little guy (rat!) swimming in the race of his life in the pool.

Sunday morning Scott and his friend Rob from California competed in theirs. Scott completed in his fastest time of one hour 23 minutes.  Rob came in just three minutes later, impressive especially since it was his first triathlon! They were 6th and 8th place for the 40 + men's division.

My parents stopped by, too briefly, after tucking the boat in for winter.  During Alex's baseball game the wind blew and temp dropped about 30 degrees, then the grandparents froze again through a Saturday morning soccer game. Dani got a stomach bug so had to miss her game and showing off her mad batting skills.

Alex had a bit of a rough time as pitcher and even took one to the face; his goggles leaving an imprint where the ball hit.

Dani's upset stomach continued, she missed school Tuesday and Wednesday. Alex caught it and was also absent two days. Two things I learned this go round: make Gatorade popsicles and put a bell next to their pillow so we're sure to hear when they need help (the cow bell clanging made us laugh every time). Here's some shots of the non-party:

My job is taking some time management to squeeze in work hours, classroom volunteering and household CEO duties but I'm enjoying it.  It's nice that my boss is flexible and I was able to work from home with sick kiddos. Getting my first paycheck in a decade was weird, but nice!!

This is pretty spectacular:
