Tri and Tri Again

Lincoln and Scott both competed in triathlons this weekend. It was Linc's first kids tri, which is a miniature version of the adult. Rain was the story of the day, but thankfully the thunder and lightening stopped which allowed the swim portion to occur.
The race entailed:
50 meter swim across the beach club pool,
3 mile (5K) bike ride,
1/2 mile run
He did such a great job and really gave it his all! Afterwards he said he he didn't feel good at all, sat down and a few minutes later threw up!! He raced with boys and girls in the 6-10 year old division. Timing chip results showed that he came in 45th out of 131 kids and got the 2nd fastest time for the 7 year old boy division. His goal was to finish in 27 minutes and he did it in 25:32.
Initially he said he wasn't going to compete in another triathlon, but a few hours later he'd changed his mind. Alex says he's in for next year too.

Nearing the finish line
Scott's triathlon (his third) was Sunday morning. He reached his goal of finishing faster than last year by three minutes and eight seconds (in one hour, 28 minutes, 2 seconds). Swimming was first in the (gross!) lake for 750 meters (where he finished 28th out of 378), biked for 12 miles and ran a 5k. He finished 114th out of 378 participants and came in 19th place out of 47 for his age group. About a month ago he injured his sciatica and it wasn't looking good for him to compete, but with some rest and medication he got back on track.
